Our Worship Director
Carolyn and her husband Dan were high school sweethearts who married 54 years ago. They have three grown children, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Dan and Carolyn grew up in a small town nestled within the Catskill Mountains. Carolyn started her musical training at the Eastman School of Music. She studied at Berkshire Christian College, Orange County Community College and graduated with bachelor’s degree from SUNY at New Paltz. She’s also completed graduate work at Johnson State College and hand bell training in Dallas, Texas, and Orlando, Florida. A teacher at heart, Carolyn taught music in public and Christian schools for over 25 years. Carolyn has served as the Worship Director at Newport Baptist Church since 2012 and plans on using her God given gifts until the Lord calls here home!
Our Youth Leaders
Tom and Janice Ward
Over the past five years Tom and Janice Ward have led Kids Club at Newport Baptist Church. The Wards bring a compassion for children and years of experience to our youth ministries. Tom and Janice home schooled their own children and posses a unique capacity to connect and bring Bible studies to life.
Bruce Penfield wears a number of hats at Newport Baptist: custodian, trustee, worship leader, and youth group worker. His father maintained a church in Connecticut for decades until his homegoing. Today, Bruce has followed in his paternal footsteps and keeps our church and grounds in fantastic shape!
PS Bruce's wife, Nancy, is the church secretary and plays the congas for one of our worship teams.
